Brněnské legendy (Brno Legends) are published in the Adapted Czech Prose series, which introduces students of Czech as a foreign language to the wealth of Czech traditions and cultures. The publication is designed for students on the level of A2 and above.

Ten legends introduce readers to famous stories from Brno. They tell, e.g. why a stuffed crocodile and wooden wheel have been hanging for years on the Old Town Hall, why the noon bell rings an hour earlier at the Cathedral in Petrov and why the pinnacle on the main door to the Brno Town Hall is crooked. In addition to the most famous tales, the book also includes some less familiar ones, such as the tale of a ghost who scared a painter in the Dominican monastery. The volume reveals in an entertaining fashion treasures from the past of the town, which is sometimes overshadowed by Prague, its big sister, but which has rightfully earned the title of the capital of Moravia.

The author's original linocut illustrations accompany the publication. It contains a set of exercises to improve grammar, vocabulary and communicative skills for each text, a Czech-English-German-Russian dictionary and an answer key to exercises. The previously released CD with the complete recording of the book and a bonus song by Josef Kainar, Hvězdy jsou jak sedmikrásky nad Brnem, has been replaced in the current reprint by a link to a free download of the recordings here: audio records in MP3.
