The Czech for Life 2 textbook is a loose follow-up to the successful conversational guide by Alena Nekovářová, director of the Asset Education Centre in České Budějovice, Czech for Life. Again, it is intended for all intermediate to advanced students who already speak Czech but still want to improve their expression. Czech for Life 2 covers fifteen more topics related to everyday situations, including new, frequently discussed topical issues such as Modern Communication, In the World of Czech Media, How to Stay Fit for Long? etc. The practical and communicative focus of the textbook awakens students' constant activity. Each lesson starts with introductory questions accompanied by illustrations. The input text (monologue, dialogue, questionnaire) and the following tasks to the text will test comprehension and the ability to express oneself independently. The textbook reinforces the conversation block, which is enriched by photographs, illustrations, diagrams and crosswords. The section is structured to offer plenty of stimulus for both teamwork and individual vocabulary expansion. Listening exercises (freely downloadable online) reinforce memorization of newly learned phraseology while providing guidance on how to respond in a specific situation. Authenticity of language is achieved by using commonly spoken words, including colloquial expressions. A new feature of the textbook are short articles selected from the daily press. The textbook includes a key, transcripts of listening exercises, a brief overview of Czech grammar and vocabulary with German and English translations. Successful use of the textbook requires a B2 level of Czech according to the Common European Framework of Reference. From 2025 also as stand-alone e-version on the ISSUU platform.
